  • Life With Edie Is Growing

When I first created Life With Edie, it was primarily a little corner of the internet where I could share my children’s book, Darius’ Christmas Journey.

But lately, I’ve found myself thinking about what else this space could become.

The truth is, I’ve always loved words and storytelling, and at some point along the way, I fell in love with grammar.

I love the way the right words can tell a story, explain something complicated, encourage someone, make a child laugh, or communicate something meaningful. I also happen to be the person who notices the missing comma, the repeated word, the sentence that doesn’t quite sound right, or the tiny inconsistency that somehow survived multiple rounds of rereading.

Apparently, there is a place in the world for people like me. 😊

So Life With Edie is growing.

    A New Chapter: Proofreading

I’m excited to begin offering proofreading services for writers, small businesses, ministries, and individuals who want another set of eyes on their work before they send it out into the world.

One of the things I’ve learned through both writing and my professional life is that when we spend enough time with a document, we eventually stop seeing what is actually on the page.

Our brains know what we meant to write.

A fresh set of eyes can catch the little things we no longer see.

That’s one of the things I love about proofreading. It combines several things I naturally enjoy: words, details, organization, research, and helping someone take something they’ve worked hard on and make it just a little better.

But I don’t want Life With Edie to become only a proofreading website.

Because that isn’t the only thing I love.

    So…What Will I Write About?

That is one of the parts I’m most excited about!

You may find a post about punctuation one month and a children’s story the next.

There may be thoughts from something I’m learning in Scripture, lessons from writing and publishing, ideas for organizing the everyday chaos of work and life, or a craft project that I probably made far more complicated than it needed to be.

There will likely be a few grammar rabbit trails.

    There will definitely be stories.

And because my faith in Jesus is at the center of my life, I’m sure you’ll see plenty of what He is teaching me along the way too.

I’m planning to start simply—probably with one blog post a month—and allow this space to grow naturally.

Eventually, I’d also love to share something I’ve only done for my nieces and nephews during the Christmas season: a serialized children’s story.

One part of the story would be posted at a time, ending with a little…

Come back next time to find out what happens.

Because apparently I would like to bring the childhood agony of waiting for the next chapter into the internet age. 😊

    And Darius Isn’t Going Anywhere

Life With Edie may be growing, but it is still the home of Darius’ Christmas Journey.

Writing and publishing a children’s book was something I dreamed about for a long time, and Darius will always hold a special place here.

As we head into the Christmas season, I’ll be sharing more about the story, what inspired it, and some behind-the-scenes pieces of its journey from an idea to a published book.

And hopefully, there will be more stories to come.

    Welcome to the Next Chapter

I don’t know exactly what Life With Edie will look like a year from now.

    Maybe that’s okay.

For now, I know that I want this to be a place for good stories, clear words, creativity, faith, learning, and the ordinary pieces of life that often turn out to hold something worth writing about.

A place where I can use the things I love to create, encourage, and serve others.

Life With Edie is still a home for Darius and the stories I love to write.

It’s just becoming a home for something bigger too.

And I think that’s part of the fun.

    I’m so glad you’re here.
